Is Carnegie 57 going to be bigger or taller than Tower Verre?

Carnegie 57 - 306.35 meters/ 1005.09 feet
Tower Verre with its new haircut - 320 meters/ 1050 feet
Carnegie 57 will still be the more imposting building however Zed, as iti has something all the way up that Tower Verre doesn't have - volume!
What I think about Carnegie 57, New York City's Midtown Behemoth to Be.
It's going to cast a shadow over Central Park, but overall this is a good design. New York is seeing a lot of good designs with the supertalls lately, so this is promising.
I don't envy those in the north facing apartments of the Cityspire Center as they are going to have a big tower in their way instead of a view of the park. Carnegie 57 will make the Cityspire Center look like a matchstick - thats how large it is. Carnegie 57 will also loom over the "nearby" Time Warner Center towers also.
These are big changes in Midtown, and I think a welcome one. This building will be built far enough away from the Empire State Building such as not to make an impact on that central Midtown West district.
Why do is it called Carnegie 57 when it has 75 floors? What's the significance of the number 57?

Carnegie 57 is located on West 57th Street.
This is going to change Midtown North. The design at the top is interesting and seems to give the impression of two towers slightly offset from each other. This one has got volume!
So... what's happening with Carnegie 57?
Nice looking building. I don't thing we will be building any more like this in Tokyo for a while because of the problems with the ground shaking. But who knows? We had Midtown and the Cocoon recently here in Tokyo, and there are some larger projects going ahead further south but the main thing is that all the big ones in Tokyo are still standing after the big shake (and the other big shake earlier today - a 7.1 aftershock).
Is that colored glass or paneling near the top?

It looks like glass.
Carnegie 57 Construction Footage April 2011. There seems to be an extension for work after hours, causing problems with the neighborhood with noise. Perhaps some of the neighbors to this construction could let us know what's happening.
The video is from "Extell and Bovis Noise"
It's taking shape. When this, and the other 57th Street towers take shape, the weight of supertalls will be all near the park/

And the new 56th Street supertall - the Toothpick or as I have dubbed it, the 'Box Girder' that is 432 Park Avenue.
The glass and cladding are looking better in real life than I had expected. I'll try to find some photos I have and post them. It actually looks a lot like the rendering.
