One Bryant Park - The Bank of America Tower - by Cooke+Fox バンク・オブ・アメリカ・タワー (ニューヨーク)
Architect: Cook+ Fox Architects, New York

The building was plagued by a series of construction accidents, as I recall, including two heavy 1500+ lbs sheets of glass hitting the shed/street within a month of each other back in the Summer/Fall of 08.
Before these incidents, there were numerous incidents where buckets, debris and construction material made it to the street, injuring workers and pedestrians.
I will write an essay about the Tower when I have more energy.
A modern classic. The Bank of America Tower really shows the start of a new era in NYC skyscraper design, breaking from the traditions of the ESB and the last 50 years of the 20th Century where blocks from Lever House to the Trump World Tower seem to have been the most popular design.

One Bryant Park/Bank of America Tower has over 4000 feet of glass installed inside. That's nothing but incredible even for a skyscraper the size of this one.
Because of the shape of its vertical planes, the BOA Tower looks different from different angles. It is a fairly unique Manhattan skyscraper for that reason alone, surely?
There are few other skyscrapers in New York that do this too. Bank of America Tower and 4 Times Square (Conde Naste Building) display a synchronized light show.
Nice light show. Never even noticed it before.
The owner puts it on. There was another last night with the Conde Naste Building. They NEED the Times Square Building involved - get the three spires all lined up and lit up and maybe together they could give the Chrysler Building a real contest....On second thoughts, I don't think so...
The BOA Tower cladding is made up of tree trunk pattern etched glass by Sans Soucies in CA. I have to say that I never even noticed. I'll take a look up close.

If you get a look at the Bank of America Tower / One Bryant Park from the air, it looks like two stuck together trapezoids of varying (and not mirrored) shape relative to each other.
It is surely a very unique design.
I ride past this one every day and it goes unnoticed up close. You have to stand back and see it from a distance to appreciate it.
@archnyer - Are you sure that it's not just a pyramid at the top, with some facets or truncated surfaces? Do you mean that it's two separate parts stuck together?

He's right. If you see the Inside Job (2010) you can see a great overhead shot of One Bryant Park. It seems to have two distinct parts to its "crown", just as ArchNYer describes it. Maybe someone can post a photo or link to an aerial view of it, which isn't actually that obvious from the ESB observation deck.
