The Sherry Netherland Hotel is famous to a lot of people in the city, being viewed by locals of New York City and tourists alike - least of which because of its proximity to the oft visited Apple Store on 5th Avenue. It features beautiful marble facings and distinctive hanging lanterns which can be seen from the GM Building Plaza across 58th Street.

This hotel was famously described by Carter B Horsley of the City Review as the best skyscraper in Midtown.

I'm not inclined to agree completely with Mr Horsley, but the Sherry Netherland Hotel is surely one of the most ornate south of the park.

Here's what Mr Horsley says on his site, The City Review

"Despite its relative modest size, the Sherry Netherland must be considered one of the world's greatest skyscrapers and is, in my opinion, the best in midtown."

There;s an apartment in the Sherry Netherland for sale. We should start a thread in the New York Real Estate Forum.
