The Busiest Train Station in the World
SHINJUKU STATION Tokyo, Japan is still the busiest railway station in the world and handles 3.64 million passengers a day (2007 stats), including many of the 40 million inhabitants who live within the National Capital Region of Japan.
Further to the north and with its cavernous streets, nearby Sunshine City and the Toshima City Entotsu looming overhead making it look like something out of a Godzilla movie, IKEBUKURO STATION Tokyo, Japan is the second busiest train station in the world and has around 2.71 million passengers a day (2007 stats).
Ikebukuro Station, Tokyo.- 2.7 - 2.8 million passengers each day
These may be the busiest train stations in the world, but Nagoya is the largest.
Ikebukuro is just great, I agree. Everyone knows Shinjuku from Lost in Translation or the Narita Express but if they only went one more station they would see another great part of Tokyo - Ikebukuro. It is cavernous - I would say futuro-cavernous! No other part of the Tokyo looks more like Blade Runner than Ikebukuro with its giant station and tower looming overhead! So I started a thread in the Tokyo architecture forum on the Toshima City entotsu, which is at the north end of Ikebukuro Station and is the third tallest structure in Tokyo after the Sky Tree and Tokyo Tower.
Incredibly busy stations! They make Grand Central look tame, although there's no competition as to which station looks better.

It's about 4 or 5 stations on the Yamanote from Shinjuku, but I get your drift friend. Toshima is a happening place to be and SUNSHINE 60 is still one of the tallest in Japan and Tokyo many decades later. And Ikebukuro station is No 2 busiest in the world - this is correct.
